Three teens were charged in a late Tuesday night robbery in the 400 block of Cedar Street.

Roanoke Rapids police Chief Chuck Hasty said in a statement the robbery, in which no weapons were used, occurred around 11 p.m.

The victim told Sergeant Terrence Tyler he was assaulted by three people and items were taken from his pockets.

The three, later identified as Frederick Lee McCray, 18, Ahmond Raquez Banks, 18, and Alvin Laron Johnson Jr., 17, all of Roanoke Rapids, left on a vehicle.

Officer Matt Hunsucker spotted the vehicle and conducted a stop on Hinson Street.

The investigation led to the arrest of McCray for common law robbery, conspiracy, possession of schedule VI and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Johnson and Banks were charged with common law robbery and conspiracy. The three received $20,000 bonds and July 20 court dates.

Investigator Chris Babb and officers Jason Williams, Chris Biggerstaff and Hannah Grimes assisted Tyler and Hunsucker.
