The Roanoke Rapids High School Yellow Jackets Varsity Baseball team wrapped up its regular season with a 7-1 win over Southern Vance at Doyle Field on Wednesday night.

Nick Horvath picked up the win on the mound.  Colby Warren, Josh Elias, and Dylan Allen also saw action on the mound for the Yellow Jackets.

Dylan Allen, Frankie Griffin, and Colby Warren all had 2 hits for the Jackets.  Nick Horvath, Zack Connell, and Cameron Rogerson each had a hit as well on the night.

Head Coach Mark Snead stated, "This was a good win to finish the regular season.  Our guys played well in all phases of the game.  The pitchers threw strikes, the defense played error free ball, and we hit the ball well.  Now it is time to start our second season in the playoffs.  Our team knows what needs to be done.  We will work hard and hopefully play our best ball of the season."

After the game, the RRHS Baseball program honored the seven seniors on this year's team:  Dylan Allen, Zack Connell, Frankie Griffin, Nick Horvath, Logan Jackson, Tyler Warren, and Jarret Williamson.

"This is a special group of young men and ballplayers.  It has been a pleasure to watch them grow and mature over the last four years.  They have worked hard to become better players and better people.  They have really come together as a team of brothers during their time here.  It has been my honor to coach them.", stated Snead.

The Yellow Jackets finish the regular season with a record of 17-4 overall and 12-2 in the Northern Carolina Conference. With Bunn's (12-1) one loss to Roanoke Rapids and beating South Granville still having a game to play should put Bunn in 1st in the 2A NCC . Roanoke Rapids (12-2) should finish second and South Granville 10-3 with one game to play should finish third.

RRHS will return to action next week in the first round of the NCHSAA 2A State Playoffs.  The opponent and date are yet to be determined but should be announced Saturday.
