Lamonte Lloyd, the second person wanted in the January 26 murder of Jimmy Daniels, surrendered this evening, Scotland Neck police confirmed.

Officer Tommy Parker said Lloyd, who was arrested in Scotland Neck, voluntarily surrendered and was in the process of being taken to Halifax for booking.

In a statement Parker said Lloyd made contact with interim Chief John Tippett and agreed to turn himself in. There were no issues during the arrest.

The State Bureau of Investigation and Halifax County Sheriff's Office continues to assist Scotland Neck. "We want to thank everyone for their assistance and ease the minds of our community," Parker said in the statement.

Parker said it was not clear what prompted the 22-year-old Scotland Neck man to surrender.

Tyquan Powell, the other man charged in the murder, was arrested by Charlotte-Mecklenburg police SWAT early Tuesday morning.

The two men are charged with reportedly killing Daniels as he sat in a vehicle near the intersection of Grace and Eleventh streets in Scotland Neck.
