Hit and run, chase leads to charges

A Weldon man has been charged in an early Sunday morning hit and run and chase which began in South Rosemary and ended when he crashed on Caroline Street in Weldon.

A judge last week modified William Roundtree III’s bond to ban him from all city property.

The two women charged in the Christopher Lynn Johnston death case allegedly lied to investigators, hence their charges of accessory after the fact of involuntary manslaughter, warrants show.

Charges lodged in drive-by

A Roanoke Rapids man was charged Thursday with allegedly shooting at a 16-year victim in the 100 block of Jefferson Street.

Video game theft investigated

Roanoke Rapids police are investigating the theft of $5,000 in video equipment that occurred on March 23 at Wal-Mart.

A city code enforcement officer was beaten and bitten by a dog as he was investigating a complaint on Roanoke Avenue Tuesday morning.
