A stalemate in talks with Lafayette Gatling on buying the Roanoke Rapids Theatre should not have a grave impact on the upcoming fiscal year budget, Mayor Emery Doughtie said following tonight’s council work session.

The city will market the Roanoke Rapids Theatre as it waits for Lafayette Gatling to finalize his deal to buy the venue.

Dismissals of RRT suits official

The dismissals of lawsuits between Lafayette Gatling and the city of Roanoke Rapids are official.

A sign that progress is possibly being made in the potential sale of the Roanoke Rapids Theatre came Tuesday night as the city agreed to dismiss its lawsuit against Lafayette Gatling. Gatling has also agreed to dismiss his lawsuit against the city.

Dunlow confirms he and Gatling in negotiations

Roanoke Rapids land developer Michael Dunlow confirmed this afternoon that he and Chicago businessman Lafayette Gatling are negotiating a deal for Gatling to buy land around the Roanoke Rapids Theatre.

The Roanoke Rapids Fire Department is not expected to ask American LaFrance for another extension for a new ladder truck the company is building, Chief Gary Corbet said today.
