Roanoke Rapids High School acting Athletic Director Mark Snead confirmed Thursday night that USSSA Hall of Famer Jimmy Powers of Gaston has been named 2018-19 Head Roanoke Rapids Lady Yellow Jackets softball coach.

Powers is a former slowpitch USSSA World Series winner, World Series MVP and 2011 USSSA Hall of Fame inductie. Powers is current Roanoke Rapids based RV Power travel fastpitch softball coach and has been for the past seven years.

The Roanoke Rapids Lady Yellow Jackets 2019 season kicks off with the first official day of practice February 13th.
