Chaloner baseball action from Monday and Wednesday

The Chaloner Middle baseball team won two games this week by beating Rocky Mount Prep Monday and followed with a win over Southampton Middle Wednesday.

Chaloner defeated Rocky Mount Prep 15-1 behind a 15 hit attack. A.J. Strickland had 3 hits including a triple and 2 RBI's. John Connor had 2 hits including a two run inside the park homerun. Collin Clements had 2 hits and 2 RBI's. Caleb Elias and Hunt Van Dam had 2 hits and a RBI. Bennett Liverman had a run producing double, while Russell Moore had a two run single. Caleb Elias was the winning pitcher. He pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up 1 one and 3 hits. Elias struck out six batters. Russell Moore gave up 2 hits in 1 2/3 innings to complete the game and struck out two batters.

The Chaloner Baseball team overcame a hard fought contest with a very good Southampton Middle School to win by a score of 14 to 6. The Jackets were down by a score of 6-3 until they scored 11 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning. Hunt Van Dam, Colin Clements, and Wade Jenkins each had a hit and two RBI's apiece. A. J. Strickland had a double and a RBI. Bennett Liverman had a single and a RBI. Bennett Liverman pitched a good 4 innings giving up 6 hits and four runs (2 earned runs.) He struck out 5 batters and only walked one batter. A. J. Strickland was the winning pitcher. He gave up 2 unearned runs and only 1 hit in 3 innings. He struck out 3 and walked 2 batters. It was a great game to watch.  Both Chaloner and Southampton players showed a lot of heart in this game, and each team made a courageous effort to win.
