RRPD blotter: January 20-26, 2017

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Deputy Chief Andy Jackson and Chief Chuck Hasty:

Friday, January 20, 2017

At 9:30 p.m., Officer S. Blythe responded to the 1900 block of Roanoke Avenue and attempted to serve a warrant on Tyrone Perry, 45.
Perry started assaulting Blythe and other officers arrived on scene.
He was placed in custody and charged with two counts communicating threats, two counts resist, delay and obstruct and two counts assault on an officer inflicting physical injury.
He was placed in the Halifax County Jail on $20,000 bond.

At 1:46 a.m., Master Officer R. Ball responded to a call in the 300 block of Monroe Street about possible drug activity.
Upon further investigation Ball arrested Jovonte Jacqeus Boone, 25, of 313 Monroe Street, after finding marijuana as well as some cocaine at the residence.
Ball charged Boone with possession of schedule II, possession of schedule VI, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was placed in the Halifax County Jail on $2,000 secured bond.

At 1:57 a.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of Rapids Street for a domestic disturbance between family members.
The victim in this case apparently received severe injuries as a result of an assault.
Officer A. Green charged 19-year-old Jamie Williford with assault inflicting serious injury and he was placed in the Halifax County Jail on $10,000 bond.
Stamey Ray Williford, 46, was charged with assault inflicting serious injury and false imprisonment.
He was placed in jail on $15,000 bond.
They have February 1 court dates.

At 1:48 a.m., Officer H. Grimes conducted a traffic stop near East Tenth Street.
Grimes observed an open container during the traffic stop and charged Tamyra Monese Anderson, 19, of Halifax, with disorderly conduct and possession of an open container in the passenger area of a car.
She was placed in the Halifax County Jail with a $750 bond and January 24 court date.
Sacora Squire, 20, of Garysburg, was cited for an open container and released with the same court date as Anderson.

Monday January 23, 2017

Kimothy Lay-Tay Parker, 28, of Roanoke Rapids was arrested at approximately 9:30 a.m. by Officer G. Colson on outstanding warrants for cruelty to animals.
Parker received a $1,000 bond and February 17 court date.
The charges stem from an investigation by Animal Control Officer P. Wilson on January 17.
Wilson and Officer O. Wiltsie responded to a residence in the 500 block of Hinson Street about a dead dog inside.
During the investigation Wilson obtained warrants for Parker and Gregory Stephon Banks Jr., 27, of Roanoke Rapids, for cruelty to animals.
Banks has not been arrested at this time, but is encouraged to turn himself in to take care of this matter.
Anyone with information on Banks is encouraged to call the police department at 252-533-2810 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
Ball assisted.

Jamaal Yubonda Benjamin, 38, of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested and charged at approximately 12:15 p.m. for larceny and possession of stolen goods.
He received a $500 bond and February 3 court date.
Officer J. Mason responded to Walmart about a larceny and learned from loss prevention Benjamin allegedly consumed products while inside the store without paying.
Officer N. Velazquez assisted.

Tuesday January 24, 2017

Garree Cordell Carr, 29, of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested and charged at approximately 1 p.m. for larceny and possession of stolen goods.
He received a $500 bond and February 10 court date.

Antonio Lamont Baker, 35, of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested at approximately 1 p.m. on outstanding warrants for breaking/entering, larceny after breaking/entering and possession of stolen goods.
He received a $3,000 bond and February 1 court date.
Mason responded to Tractor Supply about a larceny and learned from store staff Carr allegedly took items.
Baker, who was with Carr, had outstanding warrants from an investigation by Detective R. Brown with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
Ball, Velazquez and Colson assisted.

Kenneth Alan Langrehr, 50, of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested and charged at approximately 4:45 p.m. with shoplifting — concealment of goods.
Langrehr received a $700 bond and February 10 court date.
Mason responded to Walmart about a larceny and learned from loss prevention Langrehr allegedly concealed products while inside the store.
Ball assisted.

Wednesday January 25, 2017

Jalik Jaquan Fields, 16, of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested and charged at approximately 2 p.m. with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of marijuana.
Fields received a $500 bond and February 10 court date.
Officer C. Dixon responded to a disturbance near Eighth and Rapids streets and found Fields in possession of a gun and narcotics.

Andrew Scott Newton, 41, of Mecklenburg, Virginia, was arrested on outstanding warrants at approximately 5:30 p.m. by Velazquez for breaking/entering of motor vehicle, larceny of a firearm and larceny.
He received a $10,000 bond and February 15 court date.
The charges stem from an investigation by Detective R.B. Biggerstaff of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Thursday January 26, 2017

Antonique Le’Chan Davis, 21, of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested and charged by Lieutenant C.L. Vaught after she surrendered for obtaining property by false pretense and possession of stolen goods.
She received a $2,000 bond and February 1 court date.
The charges stem from a report filed on January 3 where the victim alleged Davis tricked the victim into signing paperwork for a vehicle.

Dennis Lee Junior Sesson, 26, of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested and charged at approximately 2 p.m. after surrendering to Investigator J.K. Davis for identity theft.
He received a $6,000 bond and February 1 court date.
The charges stem from a report filed last October where the victim reported their credit card was used without authorization.

Monique Danielle Britt, 39, of Roanoke Rapids, was cited for larceny and possession of stolen goods.
She was released until her March 10 court date.
Mason responded to Walmart about a larceny and learned from loss prevention Britt allegedly took items.

Ginger Daugherty Tripp, 36, of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested and charged at approximately 10 p.m. for driving while impaired.
She was released until her February 27 court date.
Lieutenant J. Baggett responded to Tenth Street near Park Avenue about a suspicious vehicle parked in front of a business.
Baggett found Tripp behind the wheel impaired.
