Charter senior discount now in effect

The Roanoke Rapids Charter Communications office was not aware that a 10 percent senior citizen discount was supposed to be applied following approval of the last franchise agreement with the company, City Manager Joseph Scherer told council this evening.

Police seek info on church break-in

Roanoke Rapids police are seeking information on a break-in reported July 1 at Chockoyotte Baptist Church.

Multiple warrants have been filed and more are expected against a Scotland Neck man for break-ins and larcenies that occurred from April through May.

The second person wanted in a May robbery in the Thelma Road area surrendered over the weekend.

A vehicle found in a ditch Saturday night off Thelma Road led to an investigation in which 66 bindles of heroin was seized.
