The county’s Recreation Partners Program awarded $30,000 in grants to organizations seeking to improve opportunities.

Halifax County commissioners today approved those grant awards.

Assistant County Manager Christina Wells said 19 organizations submitted grant applications totaling more than $118,000.

The following grants were awarded:

The Brian M. Simmons Scholarship Foundation received $2,500 for its BMS Enrichment Youth Camp

Hieley Favored Ministries received $5,000 for its Hollister recreational program

The Jack Rabbit Sports Complex received $5,000 for its Jack Rabbit softball program

Knight’s Ridge Riding Center received $3,500 for its summer camp

Lakeland Cultural Arts Center received $2,000 for its summer camp

The Lincoln Heights Community Center received $4,000 for its Watch Me Grow Camp and wellness program

The Roanoke Valley Girls Softball League received $3,500 for softball clinics and concession stand improvements

The Scotland Neck Education and Recreation Foundation received $2,000 for its Replenish and Restore program

St. Paul Baptist Church received $2,500 for its after-school camp
