SNOW HILL, N.C. – Roanoke Valley Native, Barton freshman Kate Hawkins won the 2018 Cutter Creek Women's Golf Invitational which concluded Tuesday at the Cutter Creek Golf Club. 

Hawkins, a freshman from Aurelian Springs, N.C., won a playoff scorecard victory over Lander's Caroline Hardee and Mount Olive's Lindsey Burton. All three players carded a four-over 76.

The second round was halted due to rain and lightning with the opening round scores declared the final results. Mount Olive took home the team title, firing a 312 (+24) on the par-72, 5,954-yard course. The Bulldogs finished second with a 320 (+32).

The Bulldogs will be back in action in the Battle of Old South in Bluffton, S.C., on Saturday, September 22, and Sunday, September 23, at Old South Golf Links.
