Halifax Community College is planning events in September that begin with the 56th Annual Founders Day Celebration and the inauguration of the college's sixth president — Dr. Patrena Benton Elliott. 

Guests, community leaders, faculty, staff, and students will assemble to commemorate the institution's history and to usher in a new era of leadership. 

The celebrations will begin at 10 a.m. on September 8 at the Dr. Ervin V. Griffin Sr. Centre and will continue with numerous activities throughout the week.

On the evening of September 8, guests will attend the Founders Day Gala. The reception begins at 6 p.m. followed by the gala at 7 p.m. The event will include entertainment and semi-formal attire is recommended. 

The following morning on September 9 the festivities continue with the Jazz Brunch. 

Doors open at 10 a.m. A brunch will be accompanied by jazz music. The two-day event is hosted at the centre.

The Halifax Community College Foundation will host its 14th Annual Golf Tournament on September 15 at Chockoyotte Golf Club. Tee times are available at 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., giving golfers two chances to enjoy a day of friendly competition while also supporting the foundation.

Motorcycle enthusiasts are invited to participate in the inaugural Ride for a Cause, which is dedicated to supporting student success on September 16. The ride will start at 10 a.m. at Halifax Community College and will take participants on a journey through the Lake Gaston area.
