Freddie Wayne Floyd, 75, of Roanoke Rapids died January 19, 2021 at Vidant North Hospital.

He was born in Halifax County on September 13, 1945, the son of Ned and Elizabeth Louise Moseley Floyd.  

Mr. Floyd was a retired doffer in the textile industry.

Freddie was a great Father, Partner, husband and friend.  

Freddie’s life revolved around his family. 

He enjoyed people and loved to talk and joke with everyone. He was a protector, a provider for many and he never turned away anyone in need. 

Freddie is now reunited with his wife Wilma Floyd, daughter Janice Ansley, mother and father Ned and Louise Floyd, sister Doris Mosley and brother Pete Floyd.

Freddie is survived by his life partner Kay Ross and sister Betty Green;  his daughter Freda Floyd Rawlings; Grandchildren, Joseph Rawlings and Zoey Grace Horton who were his world; Douglas Rawlings and Angel Killeen; Harli Rawlings and Shae John Horton; Sean Cagle and Leah Rice; Brayan Feliciano; Freddie had a very special connection with his grandson Carlton “Dude" Ansley; Daughters Julia & Jamie Hockaday and Pam & Benji Collins.  He also had six more grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  

Mr. Floyd will be cremated; service and burial to follow will be private. 

Arrangements for Mr. Floyd are under the care of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service.
