Thomas Joseph Butler, Jr. 80, died Monday morning, March 30, 2020 in his Henrico home.

Mr. Butler was born in Newsome, VA on November 13, 1939, the son of Thomas J. Butler, Sr. and Marie Owens Butler, both of whom preceded him in death.  A step-grandson, Daniel Blake Dawes, also predeceased him.

He was a US Army veteran; worked at JP Stevens as a loom fixer, and then became a welder / pipe fitter in the construction industry.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Jennings Butler; sons, Joey Butler (Teresa) of Littleton, and Larry Butler of Henrico; daughter, Kim Plyler (Mike) of Roanoke Rapids; step-children, Danny Dawes (Terry) of Roanoke Rapids, Kelly Russell of Roanoke Rapids and Cynthia Dawes of Castalia; brothers, Tony, Johnny and Danny Butler; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday at Maple Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Louisburg, with Pastor Chad Patton presiding.  Friends may visit with the family following the service.
