Police have identified the victim of a late Saturday night shooting as a 36-year-old Roanoke Rapids man.

Roanoke Rapids police Chief Bobby Martin said it was too early to speculate on the events leading up to the shooting death of Curtis Graham at Windchase Apartments at 701 Littleton Road.

Martin said the shooting was not a drive-by style crime but declined to elaborate further. He said it appears a handgun was the weapon.

As investigators continue to gather leads, Martin said thus far no suspects have been identified.

The shooting death occurred shortly before 11:30 p.m.

In a statement earlier today Martin said officers responded to the apartment complex after receiving a call a person had been shot.

Officers located a person who had been shot multiple times and was unresponsive. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
