The following delays and closings have been announced due to the threat of Tropical Storm Isaias:
The city of Roanoke Rapids facilities and non-emergency personnel will operate on a delay. City facilities will open for regular business at noon Tuesday.
Court cancellation
Chief District Court Judge Brenda G. Branch has canceled criminal and civil/small claims courts in District Six which encompasses Bertie, Halifax, Hertford, and Northampton counties for Tuesday.
Roanoke Rapids school board
The Roanoke Rapids Board of Trustees meeting scheduled for Tuesday at 6 p.m. has been rescheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m.
The meeting will be held remotely and electronically to honor social distancing requirements related to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The board will meet for the purposes of:
Convening a closed session to consult with the board’s attorney and consider confidential personnel information and return to open session to approve personnel recommendations
Review the current re-entry plan approved by the board of trustees and to further discuss potential alternative plans
The closed session will be held at the beginning of the meeting, and it is anticipated that the board will return to open session at 6:30 p.m.

Due to Tropical Storm Isaias, Halifax Community College will delay its opening Tuesday until noon.
