Halifax County has now documented its fourth case of COVID-19, its health system said in a statement this afternoon.

Health Director Bruce Robistow said in a phone interview the fourth positive case is being investigated to determine whether it is related to any of the first three cases which have been reported. He said the first three were not related.

Robistow said the reports of positive COVID-19 cases released by the health system only deal with patients who live in the county.

Those tested positive thus far have either been quarantined or isolated.

In the statement Robistow said the health system continues to monitor the positive case while following CDC guidelines for monitoring.

Health officials are currently following up with other people who may have been exposed to the fourth person.

The third positive case was reported this morning.
