As Halifax County reports its third case of Covid-19 today, the Northampton County Health Department, as of Sunday, said there are now 26 cases there.

Halifax County Health Director Bruce Robistow said in a statement the public health system continues to monitor the positive case while following CDC guidelines for that monitoring.

Health officials are currently following up with other people who may have been exposed to this person.

There was no further information reported in the Halifax County release.

Meanwhile, the Northampton County Health Department reported Sunday the 26th positive case in the county is unrelated to the existing 24 positive cases that are linked to a single facility as well as the single case that traveled out-of-state.

The individual was tested by a private provider and was reported to the health department Sunday and is in isolation and doing well.

Statewide media reported over the weekend 24 of the Northampton County cases are linked to Pine Forest Rest Home in Potecasi.

The Raleigh News & Observer reported a Pine Forest staff member confirmed there was an outbreak at the facility.

The newspaper did not name the staff member because they were not authorized to speak on behalf of the rest home.
