The Halifax County Genealogical Society will meet on Saturday, August 14 at 10 a.m.in the Halifax County Library. Wanda McLean of Elizabeth City will speak on the National Park Service “Underground Railroad and the Roanoke River and runaway slaves.” Her presentation is in conjunction with the Historic Halifax’s Second Saturday event.
