4-H camps set

The 4-H Rural Life Center in Halifax is offering its annual camp experience — a summer of outdoor recreation, crafts, swimming, and of course camp songs — along with other non-traditional experiences.

Police investigate restaurant heist

Roanoke Rapids police are investigating the Thursday night armed robbery of a Chinese restaurant off Julian R. Allsbrook Highway.

A Warrenton man was charged Wednesday night for allegedly stealing an iPad and teddy bear after breaking into a county school.

The completion of terminating the city’s original bond package which led to the construction of the Roanoke Rapids Theatre is expected to fill a nearly $400,000 gap of a loss in privilege license fees taken away by the state.

Belfield takes plea on two counts

Michael Rakim Belfield Tuesday entered a guilty plea on his federal drug trafficking and weapon case, an entry in the court record confirms.

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department has set a June 10 claim deadline for several bikes and an ATV currently designated as lost and found.
