A Roanoke Rapids woman surrendered to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office today and faces numerous counts related to the alleged theft of $1,800 worth of lottery tickets from the store where she was employed.

Clarence Lee Burgess Jr. was remanded to federal custody pending his detention hearing set for March 27.

NCSO investigating fight at high school

The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fight which occurred at Northampton County High School in Gaston this morning.

A Roanoke Rapids man is scheduled for a first appearance this morning in Greenville after his indictment last week on a federal weapon possession charge.

Remains taken to Greenville for autopsy

Skeletal remains found Tuesday afternoon in Roanoke Rapids have been taken to the medical examiner’s office in Greenville, city police Chief Chuck Hasty said this morning.

The Chaloner Recreation Center pool repair project has received a $10,000 boost from a local ministry.
