An Enfield man arrested Wednesday allegedly had items in his possession which were stolen from an area hunting club, the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Valley launches July 4 events Saturday

Several Independence Day events are scheduled throughout the Roanoke Valley this weekend starting with a parade in Littleton Saturday and ending Monday with fireworks shows in Halifax, Hobgood and Jackson.

A Garysburg man who is listed as an absconder by the state Department of Public Safety was charged today in Emporia for warrants related to a February armed robbery over a hover board in Roanoke Rapids.

A man wanted in a November breaking and entering was brought back to Halifax County Monday to face charges in the case.

Three charged in Cedar St. robbery

Three teens were charged in a late Tuesday night robbery in the 400 block of Cedar Street.

New Roanoke Rapids Graded Schools Superintendent Dain Butler was sworn in by Judge W. Turner Stephenson III this evening at the city school board's monthly meeting.

Trevon Fields, who was wanted in a June 23 breaking and entering, has been taken into custody, Roanoke Rapids Police Chief Chuck Hasty confirmed.

Man sought in June 23 B&E

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is seeking the whereabouts of an 18-year-old in a breaking and entering in the 300 block of Henry Street last week.

An April wallet theft from Roanoke Rapids High School has been tied to a Petersburg, Virginia, man currently in custody in Dinwiddie County.

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department will be allowed to include the cases of Shonda Stansbury and James “Peanut” Woodley in a special FBI repository it believes will provide more resources into solving the woman's 2006 disappearance and the teenager's 1998 murder.
