RRPD blotter: April 18-21, 2016

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is seeking help in cases where two homes were shot into as well as an attempted armed robbery, both which occurred late Thursday night.

Two men sought in the April 10 assault and robbery of pizza delivery driver in Roanoke Rapids were arrested this week, the police department reports.

The Weldon Police Department and Hannah's Place are looking for a few good men to put on women's shoes and walk a mile Wednesday evening.

Shooting probe leads to drug charges

Investigation into a Thursday night shooting led to the filing of drug charges against the person in whose house the matter occurred, the City County Drug Task Force reports.

Dickens named Northeast headmaster

The Northeast Academy Board of Trustees announce Leon Dickens has accepted the position of headmaster for the coming academic year after serving in an interim capacity since January.

The Roanoke Rapids Planning Board, after a nearly 2 ½-hour public hearing this evening, unanimously agreed to send to city council a recommendation for approval of a revised conditional use permit for a proposed apartment complex at Villages at Cross Creek.

A man whose 2012 murder trial ended in a mistrial was arrested today on marijuana counts.

Roanoke Rapids City Council and the city's planning board will hold a joint public hearing Thursday as a developer makes another request for a conditional use permit to develop land in the Villages at Cross Creek subdivision

Police seek information in New Dixie larceny

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is currently investigating a larceny which occurred at the Highway 125 New Dixie Mart on March 29.
