If you recall it took two overtimes and two goal line stands for the underdog Jackets to defeat their conference foe, 27-21, last year at Hoyle Field.
The 4-1 (0-0) Jackets are coming off a 42-35 loss to Tarboro last week, a game in which they came back from a 35 point defecit in the third quarter and lost by only 7 as time expired.
"Louisburg was picked to win the conference." stated coach Russell Weinstein, "They have two big backs, actually bigger than Tarboro's. They run the wing-t, power off the tackle, run a lot of misdirection, full back trap and they throw the ball."
As far as last week's game, the coach said, "The film session was very humbling. The first half took an hour and a half and the second only took 30 minutes to go over on film."
Weinstein remembers last year’s Louisburg rumble. "Last year's game was an absolute must win struggle. We put it all on the line for a must win first conference game and it put us on the right track.
“This year the roles have been reversed and the Louisburg coaches want to turn around their season. We need to respond to the challenge and go to Louisburg and play some really good football Friday night."
Judging from the intensity of their practices Tuesday and Wednesday the Jackets seem ready.
