Traveling to Bunn High School on Monday, the Jackets faced the Wildcats. The Jackets started strong and had several shots on goal, but they were all deflected by the Wildcat goalie or parts of the goal itself.
Before the first half was complete, Bunn had scored two goals.
The second 40 minutes was all Jackets and Bunn never scored again.
The first goal of the second half was a powerful penalty kick by Kyle Pratt that soared passed the Wildcat goalie.
Drew Bennett is credited with the second goal of the last half with only a few minutes remaining in regulation and the match was sent into overtime.
The first 10 minutes resulted in no goals being scored for either team. As both teams entered the second 10 minutes, the result of 100 minutes of soccer action was evident.
However, Johnny Tripp, who was celebrating his birthday, gave his team and fans a present of his own.
His goal at the 7 minute mark sent his team up by one and gave the Jackets the victory.
Coach Terry Frazier was satisfied with the 3-2 win and credits his defense in the second half of the game for stepping up and holding Bunn scoreless. With this win, the Jacket record improves to 7-3-1.
The Jackets return home to Hoyle field Wednesday at 6 p.m. to face the Corinth Holders, a new challenger in the their conference.
