The valley will see several teams participate in the playoffs and with just a week to go the brackets are becoming clearer.
These brackets are based on projections of the remaining games and could change after this weekend. The most interesting projection would be the bracket the state would place the Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jackets in.
The 2A bracket could look like this:
2A West
(1) Starmount
(2) Lincolnton
(3) Polk
(6) Mountain Heritage
(7) East Lincoln
(9) Maiden
(11) East Rutherford
(16) Brevard
2A Midwest
(4) Carver
(5) Thomasville
(8) Eastern Randolph
(10) Lexington
(12) Jordan Matthews
(13) West Davidson
(14) Providence
(15) Surry Central
2A Mideast
(2) Cummings
(5) South Columbus
(6) Fairmont
(7) Carrboro
(8) North Johnston
(10) East Bladen
(15) Franklinton
(16) North Brunswick
2A East
(1) Tarboro
(3) East Duplin
(4) Roanoke Rapids
(9) South Lenior
(11) First Flight
(12) Pasquotank
(13) Northside- Jax
(14) Northwest Halifax
The intriguing part about the state brackets is that Tarboro, Roanoke Rapids and East Duplin who are all no.1 seeds from their conference could be in the same bracket. The result could be two great teams matching up early with one of them eliminated and a lower seed making it to Chapel Hill. The Jackets will definitely have their work cut out for them but if they survive the early round they could go deep into the playoffs and extend a super year.
