Mayfield Mayfield Halifax County Sheriff's Office

A Roanoke Rapids woman was charged on several counts, including common law robbery and prostitution Monday.

Lieutenant George Evans said Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Deputy J.M. Clark was investigating a common law robbery on Highway 158 in which Vanessa Marsha Mayfield, 42, was the alleged suspect.

Clark found the woman at the New Yorker motel in Weldon and after a short interview charged her with common law robbery, simple assault, prostitution, larceny, possession of stolen goods and resisting a public officer.

She was jailed on $3,500 bond and has a December 15 court date. No further details were immediately available.
