Detective J. Puhak said deputies G. Page and O. Wiltsie arrived at Gallberry Road around 10:30 p.m. to find an unoccupied house but a crime scene with a large amount of blood.
Investigation by the deputies, along with help from Halifax Central, helped lead to the discovery of an alleged suspect, Bridget Harvey Grant, 37.
As law enforcement processed the crime scene Grant came back to the house and turned herself in without incident.
She was charged in the domestic disturbance with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury.
She was being held without the opportunity for bond and has a July 20 court date.
The victim was treated and released from the hospital.
