The Weldon Police Department tonight promoted two officers — one to captain and another to lieutenant.“I present two deserving individuals for promotion ...” Chief Mark Macon said before pinning James Avens with captain bars and Chris Davis with his lieutenant bars. “This is my first pinning ceremony and I’m honored and proud to promote two well deserving people.”
Macon said both officers, Avens, a former lieutenant, and Davis, a former sergeant, have done superior jobs.
Following the meeting Macon said Avens will remain lead investigator for the department while Davis will cross train officers and head the patrol division.
There is to be no profanity and there is to be no character assassination even if the person being written about is a suspect in a crime.
