The Weldon Police Department is investigating two cases of vandalism which Chief Mark Macon believes may have been done by the same people.

The police department today released video footage of the vandalism done at the ABC store, which can be viewed by scrolling down the page, which shows two people who appear to be juvenile boys. One of them throws a cinder block at the rear entrance of the door. Both boys run and nothing was taken.

This occurred on July 4.

Meanwhile, the police department is investigating a call Saturday in which a rock was thrown threw a CSX train engine, which was on the tracks just past Country Club Road.

The report, taken by Officer C. Coley, says the officer observed two black males still on the train tracks just behind a path leading to Scoco Park.

Coley drove his patrol car to Ransome Circle where the path to the tracks began. One juvenile was standing off to the side of the path while the other was lining rocks on the tracks for the train to run over.

Upon questioning, the boys said they were throwing rocks at the wheels and not the top. The juveniles were taken to their home where they were advised a followup would be done if CSX wanted to press charges.

Anyone with information about the two boys in the video or the accompanying still photo is encouraged to call the police department at 252-536-3136 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
