Weldon Police Chief Mark Macon said the home invasion on Sixth Street was reported around 11 p.m.
When Sergeant Chris Buffaloe and Officer C. Coley arrived, they found entry was gained to the house by using a ladder to climb to the second floor and force entry through a window.
When the victim heard the commotion she locked the bedroom door and called authorities. One room in the house was ransacked but nothing was taken.
The victim could hear the suspects outside her room. They left, however. It was not clear how they exited the house and it was not clear if the suspect's brought their own ladder or used the victim's.
Macon said investigators do have a person of interest.

Macon encourages residents to attend the town's Neighborhood Watch meetings which are held the second Tuesday of every month at 4 p.m. in the town hall.
