Baker Baker Halifax County Sheriff's Office

A Sunday morning order for arrest service led Halifax County Sheriff's Office deputies to discover cocaine and a handgun reported stolen from Roanoke Rapids.

Lieutenant George Evans said Deputy J.M. Clark went to Little Deep Creek Road outside Roanoke Rapids around 1 a.m. Sunday to arrest Tevon Baker on an outstanding warrant for assault on a female.

While there Clark recalled several drug complaints he had received about Baker and, with assistance from deputies B.C. Griffin and J. Keeter, along with Keeter's dog, Broady, found 3.7 grams of cocaine and a .380 handgun reported stolen from Roanoke Rapids.

Baker was charged with possession of schedule II, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed on $5,000 secure bond and has a January 11 court date.
