A traffic stop for a violation today led to the arrest of a Roanoke Rapids man along with the seizure of crack and cash.

Detective Tyree Davis of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said Deputy J.M. Clark stopped the vehicle on Key Street in the Lincoln Heights community.

Clark was allowed to search the vehicle, which was driven by James “Lil Keith” Keith Nelson, 21.

The deputy found a small amount of crack cocaine and more than $2,100 in cash.

Clark charged Nelson with possession of schedule II, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to wear seat belt and driving while license revoked.

Nelson was jailed on $5,000 bond and has an April 6 court date.
