Victim assaulted in Weldon home invasion

Weldon police are investigating a home invasion that occurred Sunday around 3 p.m. in the 500 block of First Street.

Captain James Avens said three people, described as black males, kicked in the door and brandished weapons.

The victim was assaulted when he was struck with a weapon. The victim required hospital treatment and was later released.

The men, who covered their faces with bandannas, demanded money and the victim consented, the suspects fleeing on foot with an undisclosed amount.
