A call from a 90-year-old victim in Virginia Beach has led to her neighbor being charged with identity theft counts.

Captain Andy Jackson of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said he received a call last week the victim had her pocketbook stolen and that someone was trying to obtain credit in her name.

The investigation led Jackson to 1108 Georgia Avenue Apartments, Apartment B, where Luther Artis, 19, was visiting relatives.

Jackson recovered credit cards, drivers license and a social security card.

He charged Artis with possession and concealing stolen items, common law forgery and five counts of identity theft.

He was jailed on $10,000 bond and has a November 17 court date.
