Complaints of drug sales occurring at the Carolina Inn led to the seizure Tuesday afternoon of a gram of crack cocaine and a small amount of marijuana as well as the arrests of two Roanoke Rapids area men.

Roanoke Rapids Police detectives Jamie Hardy and Tommy Hathaway arrested Antwan Smith, 30, of Carver Street, and Norman Pullen, 49, of Harris Street.

The arrests occurred when Hardy approached a vehicle and a small item was thrown from the window and landed on the vehicle beside it.

The item was identified as crack cocaine, a gram split into three or four rocks.

Smith was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, maintaining a vehicle to store a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Pullen was charge with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after Hardy and Hathaway found a small bag of marijuana on the passenger side of the vehicle.

Both men have December 7 court dates.
