Two men were arrested this morning following a home invasion on Justice Branch Road in the Enfield area, the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Courtney James, 19, was charged with first-degree burglary, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and attempted larceny. Michael Ward, 40, faces the same charges. Both men were jailed on $100,000 bonds and have August 4 court dates.

The robbery attempt occurred around 12:45 this morning in the 5000 block of Justice Branch Road.

Lieutenant Bobby said the victim told investigators the men entered his home, one armed with a handgun, and demanded money. The victim complied and was taken to a shed while the other person searched for money.

While no money was found, a 20-gage shotgun was stolen. Through investigation by Detective Jonathan Merritt, acting on information compiled by Deputy Corey Griffin, James and Ward were identified as the men who allegedly entered the home.
