Lieutenant Neil Aycock of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said Deputy D. Radford responded to a report of a fire and witnessed smoke coming from inside the hangar.

He also saw two people, later identified as Jonathan Lynn Johnston and Daniel Stewart King, both 18, running from the building to a wooded area between the airport and Fox's Mini Storage.
Further investigation by Radford, along with deputies B.C. Griffin and C.T. Jenkins, led the pair to be charged with breaking and entering, burning other building and trespassing on airport property. They were jailed on $20,000 bonds and have October 18 court dates.
