A state Highway Patrol trooper was taken to Halifax Regional Medical Center after he wrecked in his patrol car this morning.

Law enforcement sources say the trooper, S. Richardson, is OK and was being treated.

The wreck occurred on Highway 158 near the gentleman's club.

Law enforcement sources say Richardson had turned to pursue a vehicle but had to swerve the vehicle, apparently to miss people standing on the edge of the road.

Richardson had to be cut from the vehicle by Davie volunteer firefighters.

No further details were immediately available.

Thank God he is ok. He is well-trained as proven by his actions to prevent collateral damage to civilians. The transgressor(s) will get his/her/theirs eventually.
