Lieutenant George Evans of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said shortly before 7 p.m., Deputy G. Page stopped 24-year-old Antonio Monte Simmons for a traffic violation.
A subsequent search yielded 13 individual bags of marijuana, a total of 14 grams.
Simmons was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was jailed on $5,000 bond and has an August 8 court date.
The Roanoke Rapids Police Department assisted with the stop.
