Third person arrested in Greenville assault WITN

WITN reports police say they've now arrested a third person for an assault that happened late last month in downtown Greenville.

Greenville police say 16-year-old Jontez Windley turned himself in Monday afternoon.

He, along with Immanuel Crawford and Dominic Green, are charged with assault inflicting serious bodily injury and simple assault. The other two suspects were arrested Friday night.

Police say the three assaulted Seth Wright and Thomas Medlin of Roanoke Rapids on August 28 in a parking lot at East 5th & Evans. A police report says Wright, who is an ECU student, was seriously injured in the attack.

Detectives say they are trying to see if this assault is related to any others that have happened in the downtown area in recent weeks. Green was arrested two weeks ago for another assault that happened in a parking lot at the corner of 6th & Evans Street.

The Daily Reflector of Greenville reported detectives have not discovered any motive for the assaults but they are investigating any gang-related connections the suspects might have, a news release said.
