A William R. Davie School Middle School teacher has been suspended without pay after allegedly showing 11 minor students pornography in the classroom Monday.

The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office charged Archie Sheldon McCLeod III, 51, of Roanoke Rapids with 11 counts of disseminating obscene materials and 11 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Halifax County Schools spokesperson Keith Hoggard said McLeod, the school’s band teacher, has worked with the system for 11 years.

While Hoggard would not discuss specifics of the case, he did say, “Behavior such as is alleged will not be tolerated in the Halifax County Schools. We appreciate parents working with us to make sure their children are safe.”

Major Bruce Temple of the sheriff’s office said investigators were called to the school Monday after a parent filed a complaint McLeod was allegedly showing porn to students on a laptop computer.

Evidence seized included a video of Mcleod showing the students a sexual act on a laptop computer. The number of  11 counts is consistent with the number of students that were exposed to the material. All of the students were between the ages of 12 and 14.

School officials  have worked closely with deputies during the investigation and have contacted parents of students who were offended, Temple said.

Further details in the case are being withheld for now, pending his processing and further investigation.

He was jailed on $40,000 bond and has a February 22 court date.

Well Mr. Al$ton, I do so hope that you are not a parent or a teacher. What does it matter if he has exposed them to something they have already seen or not?!? How is it justifiable for an adult, a mentor, A TEACHER none-the-less, who is entrusted with the well-being and welfare as well as the education of moral right and wrong of our young children to show them something like this?? He had a smile on his face while doing it, never once during the video (raw footage available on ABCLocal website) do you hear him trying to "teach" them anything about how it is wrong. Regardless of the "positive things I have instilled in you all with my teaching." statement from his Facebook, this man deserves nothing more than a LONG prison sentence. It is absurd to think he had any good intentions in this incident. May God have mercy on his soul for the damage he has done to those young children. Lance and the law forbid me to say the things I wish to say here, but I think every parent knows...

Mr. Alston, I pray that YOU are not a teacher!!
Sounds like you should be investigated as well. Since when has it been necessary to show children pornography to show dangers of sex? He's BAND teacher for crying out loud! Has he taught them to read and play music?? He hasn't taught them anything exceot how to be perverts. You Mr. Alston need a seat beside the band teacher in Halifax!!

Mr. McCleod was and is still a good teacher. He did not expose those kids to anything that they are not already aware of. For all we know, he could have been teaching them of the dangers of having sex, as youth.

What a shame that someone kids are taught to respect and trust can do something like this hope he gets the book thrown at him.
