A stolen vehicle call Tuesday ended with a wreck and a foot chase on Morgan Drive.

Detective Tyree Davis of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said Deputy Graham Page responded to the Morgan Drive area around 6 a.m. after receiving a call about a stolen vehicle.

Roanoke Rapids Police Officer Mike Moseley spotted the vehicle in the city limits and attempted to stop it. When the driver didn’t stop Moseley pursued the vehicle, which crashed. The driver, identified as Leon Lemont Hunter, fled. Moseley and Page eventually found Hunter, of Farley Circle, on West Tenth Street.

He was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen goods, flee to elude arrest, resisting an officer and possession of marijuana.

He was jailed on $15,000 bond and has a March 16 court date.

Quoting Eddie:
Why can't these people get a job and work like everyone else.

Because they are LAZY!! They steal a car or sell drugs to make a quick so-called "easy" dollar, and it doesn't hurt them. Wasn't their car and they didn't lose any money or sleep over it! They needed to be taken behind the woodshed when they were kids!!
