The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an attempted armed robbery which occurred on Allendale Drive in Roanoke Rapids around 11:50 Wednesday night.

Lieutenant Bobby Martin said Deputy Herbert Williams responded to a call where the victims said they heard someone outside. When the victims looked out the window they saw two subjects with masks on pointing a gun at them. The suspects advised them to open the door, but they refused, dropped to the floor and called 911.

The two suspects fled in a vehicle and left the area.

The sheriff's office asks that anyone with information on this attempted robbery call Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444 or the sheriff's office at 252-583-8051.

Martin said the sheriff's office cautions everyone this time of the year to keep a light on outside your door so you can see who is coming up or who is knocking. When answering the door ask who is there before you just open it  and if you don't know them do not open the door.
