Lieutenant Bobby Martin said in a news release the victim she was at her home and heard a knock at her door. When she answered it a male was there and he asked her if she had any work for him because he needed money, to which the victim responded she didn’t and closed the door.
There was a second knock at the door and when the victim went to open it, the male forced the door open and had a knife in his hand.
The suspect began to assault the victim inside her home, swinging a knife at her and cutting her on her forearms. He also struck her in the back of the head.
The victim was able to get away and ran down her hallway while she was throwing chairs down to slow the suspect down.
The suspect then turned and ran out the back door of her residence. A track by Sgt. Greg Richardson and his dog Doxie failed to locate anyone.
The suspect is described as a black male, medium build and wearing dark clothing. maybe in the early 40s.
The victim was treated and released at Our Community Hospital.
