Second man arrested in RR robbery attempt

A second person has been arrested in an attempted robbery on Highway 158 last month.

Detective James Matthews of the Halifax County Sheriff’s office said William Roundtree of Roanoke Rapids was charged and arrested that night.

Further investigation led to the arrest of the second suspect, Kenneth Garod Harper, 27, of Enfield.

Harper was taken to the Halifax County Jail where he was placed under a $15,000 bond and given a December 15 court date.

Further details were not immediately available.
