Roanoke Rapids police are investigating a robbery attempt in the parking lot of the East Tenth Street BB&T which occurred shortly after 10:30 this morning.

It was not immediately clear if the robbery attempt was successful. Captain Andy Jackson said the victim was approached by a person described as a black male with ear-length dreadlocks and no facial hair wearing a black skull cap and all black clothes. He did have a gun, although the type is not known.

He was last seen getting into a dark green older model car, possibly a Toyota, with no hubcaps. The car was last seen heading down Becker Drive.

It's that time of year again when people get these foolish ideas on robbing banks and stores. I know the economy is at a low but if you really want to work you can. Stop all of this nonsense it's not worth it in the long run. Go out and get a job and stop robbing people who works hard for their nice things, you can have them too if you work for them.
