The city’s land use ordinance requires parking lots to be kept in proper condition, Jarratt said during a break in the city council budget work session.
The owner of the property where the post office is located received a letter notifying him he was in violation and requesting a plan.
Jarratt said the owner replied and informed the city he was obtaining bids and the work would start in the next two to three weeks. The work not only includes the pothole but the entire parking lot.
The city will work with the owner, Jarratt said.
