Police seek clues in rash of break-ins

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department hopes a video — which can be found by scrolling down to the end of this story — may help investigators solve a string of business break-ins in the Tenth Street area.

Five businesses have been broken into over the last two weeks. The thieves are stealing only computers and flat screen televisions, according to Detective Frankie Griffin.

While the video does not show a closeup of the faces, Griffin said he hopes by releasing it someone may recognize the people by the way they walk for the clothes they wear.

It appears they are taking caution to avoid detection, wearing gloves and covering their faces.

Some $12,000 in merchandise has been taken thus far and could end up being sold for drugs or either put up for sale on eBay or Craigslist.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444 or the police department at 252-533-2810.
