Captain Andy Jackson said Detective Corey Dixon received the call shortly before 2 p.m. He and Officer Scott Blythe responded to 2116 Rebecca Street where they found a 2002 Ford Focus had been burned from the inside.
The inside windows were covered with soot and booth front seats were burned. The front floorboards and side panels were burned as well as the headliners and sun visors.
There was also the presence of an accelerant, which is believed to be kerosene.
Damage to the car was $5,000 and police are investigating a motive.
